AQIP Peer Reviewers
AQIP is committed to staffing its processes with a diverse group of people rich in higher education and continuous quality improvement experience. AQIP needs higher educators with a quality background, but it also needs quality experts from other enterprises who can bring an outside, fresh perspective to the higher education community.
You personally can become involved by visiting the Higher Learning Commission's Peer Review Corps page and completing the AQIP Reviewer Application Form. To complete your online application, you need to set up a free Login Account on the Peer Review Corps section of the Higher Learning Commission's Web site by clicking here to go to the Peer Reviewer Application. If you already serve as a Commission Peer Reviewer for PEAQ, you can log in to your existing account to apply to serve AQIP.
AQIP Reviewers are selected for specific roles in AQIP processes, most commonly serving as panelists, site visitors, appraisers/reviewers, and facilitators in the AQIP reaffirmation of accreditation process. Reviewer roles in AQIP fall into four categories:
-
Panelists evaluate and make recommendations in the AQIP admissions, organizational change, and reaffirmation of accreditation processes;
-
Facilitators conduct the Strategy Forums and any optional Vital Focus self-assessments;
-
Appraisers/Reviewers evaluate, consult, and provide written feedback in the Annual Action Project Update and Systems Portfolio Appraisal processes; and
-
Site Visitors serve on the teams that conduct the Quality Checkup Visits that occur prior to the Reaffirmation of Accreditation process.
AQIP Reviewers may serve in a single AQIP role or in multiple roles. When peer reviewers are first selected to serve AQIP, they often begin as Annual Update Reviewers, progressing to other roles as they learn more about systematic quality improvement in higher education organizations and about AQIP.
